Facility Requirements
Accurate Documentation and Charting
Facilities expect all providers to maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all care provided during their shift. This includes—but is not limited to—daily charting, patient observations, incident reporting, medication administration records (MAR), and any additional documentation required by the facility.
What this means:
Chart contemporaneously (at the time care is given or immediately after).
Never copy/paste previous entries unless approved.
Document facts only—avoid opinions or unclear notes.
Ensure your charting meets all facility policies, state requirements, and standard professional practices.
Examples of violations:
Charting for times when you were not physically present.
Claiming care was provided when it was not.
Falsifying time entries or forging a facility staff member's signature.
Important: Facilities conduct random audits of records. Any discrepancies or suspected falsification will be reported, investigated, and may lead to permanent account deactivation and legal action.
Signature Requirements
For timesheets to be processed and payment to be approved, you must obtain a facility staff member’s signature in the app at the end of each shift.
If no one is available to sign:
Select “Myself - No one available to sign” in the app and enter a reason.
These shifts will undergo manual review, which may delay payment by 1–3 business days.
Warning: Repeated reliance on self-sign-outs without valid cause may result in increased scrutiny of your shifts or suspension of account privileges.
Facility Protocol Compliance
When you accept a shift through VeeShift, you are agreeing to comply with all protocols, policies, and instructions of the facility where you are assigned. This includes, but is not limited to:
Arriving on time and ready to work.
Wearing proper attire.
Respecting break times and meal schedules as directed by facility management.
Following the instructions of nurses, supervisors, and administrators.
Completing all assigned duties, including but not limited to:
Answering call lights promptly.
Assisting with resident ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).
Performing assigned showers, turns, and checks.
Assisting during emergencies and transfers.
Note: Refusing tasks, ignoring instructions, or consistently underperforming may result in a negative report, shift dispute, and/or a "Do Not Return" status at that facility.
Abandonment of Shift
Leaving a facility without authorization, walking off the job mid-shift, or intentionally failing to complete facility required duties is considered shift abandonment.
Consequences:
Immediate 30-Day suspension of your VeeShift account.
Removal from all current and future shifts.
Facilities are also permitted to issue a permanent DNR.
If an emergency arises and you must leave, notify both the facility charge nurse and VeeShift support before exiting the building. Failure to do so will be treated as an abandonment case.
Respecting Facility Culture
You are a guest at the facility, but expected to act as part of their professional environment. This includes:
- Respecting the chain of command.
- Speaking to patients, residents, and staff with courtesy and professionalism.
- Not asking to leave early, even if the unit is “slow.” If sent home by the facility, document it accurately in the app and select “Sent Home.”
Facilities are not required to accept your return if they feel you have disrupted workflow or disrespected their protocols.
Reminder: VeeShift operates on a rating and review system. Facilities can rate providers after each shift. Consistent professionalism, timely communication, and completed duties help keep your profile in good standing and ensure continued access to more shift opportunities.
